August 3rd - Vanessa and gramma Grace made it safely home! Praise the Lord for His watch care over us. Anita, Alex, Hollis, Jasper, Starlit and I went to the Turtle Mountains on Sunday. I was not aware that North Dakota had such beauty (in a different way than the beauty of the badlands or even the Missouri river where we live). I was supposed to participate in a local gospel music festival near Bottineau that got totally rained out! So we went to the Peace Gardens and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! It is a beautiful place and even though it was only 20 miles from the festival did not get any rain! As an added bonus there was a car show going on! Got to enjoy about 50 classic automobiles. My favorite was a 50 Merc convertible - totally stock! I will post some pictures if they turned out alright. August 9th - went out to Lake Isabelle Friday night and spent all day Saturday with some good friends. Lots of sun (OK, maybe too much sun!) but had a wonderful time! Anita and Alex stayed one more day while we came home to get some things done. Went tubing and knee boarding and found out I am not as young as I think I am! Those of you approaching and or over 40 will know what I mean! The mind is willing but the body is ????? August 10th - our Anniversary - 17 years! Seems hard to believe but
to quote gramma Blanche "God is good!" Someday Vanessa and I will take the
time to write about our marriage and the wonderful things that He has done both to and
through us. August 11th - my birthday and I am 39 but the big news is coming March 14th (or thereabouts!) as one can not tell exactly with these things. After all it does take 9 months to make a........ you guessed it (or maybe not!) at any rate we are having a baby! More about this later. I am breaking the news at my birthday party but any of you who are cool enough to be checking this page will know about it first by 24 hours! August 12th - well, everyone was quite surprised by the news about the baby! A lot of excitement and of course I am excited about it also. We decided about 8 months ago to allow God to be in charge of the babies and He is! Of course I anticipated a baby much sooner but He was not asking me if I was willing to have another baby, He was asking if I was willing to let Him to be in control! What an awesome God! He only has the best in store for us if we are but willing and obedient to Him! For my views on obedience click here! August 16th - Anita and I followed the Lord in the waters of baptism! Anita has made incredible strides in her decision to follow God and felt like she needed to be obedient and be baptized. As we were at the river I realized that I had not been baptized either so I got baptized also. All He wants from us is continued obedience! It was a good thing to witness and experience first hand the call to obedience and the results of it. August 18th - Watched the presidents speech last night. We must all continue to pray for him. God has allowed him to be in this position of authority so we can do nothing but pray for him! I could not help but be struck by the fact that he was truly sorry - just as anyone who is caught in a wrong is sorry - sorry they were caught! I am not trying to be condemning because we have all been there! Let us continue to pray that he will come to truly know the God that he mentioned in his speech. August 20th - You can now e-mail anyone in the family! The e-mail addresses are listed on the home page. Anita went to check out a Teen Challenge center that is opening near Winnipeg. God has been working in her life and preparing a way for her. Just for example when we went to the Social Security office here in Bismarck we were interviewed by an extremely nice lady who happens to be related to us on the Barlow side! Things went very smoothly and we Praise God for His work! Keep praying for us all and I will keep you posted! August 21st - Anita got turned back at the border - seems that a Canadian resident can't drive a US vehicle in Canada. Some severe frustration but all in all another lesson in obedience and patience for us all. It is so freeing to realize that all He asks of us is obedience! August 25th - Anita is going to Teen Challenge just outside of Winnipeg - God has worked and opened the door even without her going there. The director interviewed her over the phone and this Saturday I will be taking her up there! Alex is going to stay with us and he will be doing kindergarten with Starlit. God is good to us and He will continue to provide. August 27th - Vanessa and gramma Grace took off at 6:00 this morning for Vinton to stay with Lori and visit Estelle for 2 days - then the plan is to go to Underwood Indiana on Saturday and then for Vanessa to fly back on Sunday! Only one thing to be praying about - the Northwest Airlines strike that might happen at midnight Saturday! I will keep you posted. August 30th - so the strike is on and Vanessa is hoping to come home Monday - we will see. Yesterday I drove to OakBank Manitoba and back and left Anita at the Teen Challenge there! It was a 775 mile round trip but no problems at all. Please continue to pray for Anita as she continues to allow the Lord to lead in her life! Also remember us as we have added Alex to our family for the time Anita will be gone. This morning got up and went 125 miles to sing at the 9:30 service then came home and took the 4 kids to the lake. August 31st - well, Vanessa is home! She flew out of Indianapolis at 2:00 AM and then to Denver and then to Rapid City. Ross flew down and picked her up and they got home here around 2:00 PM so she is tired but we are glad she is home! |
