May 3rd - A cousin of Vanessa's who had been battling cancer for 18 months passed away this past week.  The funeral was Saturday at 11:00 and was a wonderful celebration of her life.  She knew where she was going and was ready to go.  We have had cool weather and actually got snow on Saturday.  Went down to Gackle to help Rick get ready for the auction sale and a wild little storm came through and dropped the temperature rapidly!

May 10th - Had a wonderfully relaxing Mother's Day.  Jasper & Hollis and I went to Gackle with Rick Friday night and helped with the auction on Saturday.  Had some rain early but it cleared off and the rest of the day was really nice.  Had more rain that night and some yesterday but we sure could use more.  Zion is ready for a bigger (a 1/10 scale - he is at 1/16 now) violin and is really starting to make some progress.  Jasper's new guitar showed up on Tuesday and it is nice! Ross & Janice left for Rochester on Saturday for 6 month checkups.  Grandma Grace turned 91 on Saturday and came down to our place for a birthday lunch.

May 17th - Well, we had weather this week.  Snow actually and just plain cold and windy.  There was a bluegrass festival in Bismarck yesterday and the kids and I (along with Colt Schneider) played a 15 minute set and that was fun.  It was a cold and blustery day though and of course the festival was outside.  Ross & Janice got back from Rochester and had a good trip.  The speech team in Washburn had a fund raiser last night in Washburn and had some of the kids do their speech pieces and Hollis did his poem and did a great job on it.

May 24th - The weather still continues to be cool but at least we have gotten some rain!  Went to some graduation parties over the weekend.  They are doing street and road construction all over so I know that summer is a coming!  The price of gas continues to enter new territory as I am sure it does all over.  We are going to try to have a garage sale this weekend as we have a lot of stuff to sort and cull.  I guess if it is a bust (being the long weekend and all) we will just carry it over and do it the following weekend as well.  Jasper and I have been working on getting the supercab running and it is almost there!

May 31st - Well in typical holiday fashion we had rain off & on all weekend!  Still had a good time with George and went out to spend some time with Rick who was camping close to town.  The supercab is running and seems to be a pretty nice little truck so far.  Of course with gas @ $2.099 it will be spendy to fill the tanks!  Zion is showing good progress with the violin.  Starlit went to her violin teachers house Friday night for a sleep over and had a good time.  Did not have the garage sale - too much work - too little time!
