June 7th - Some really nice weather!  We had sunshine and a great weekend.  Got a lot of yard work done AND went to the lake for the first time this year!  I sold my old boat to my partner Jim and bought one that needed some work done to it and Ross got it running so we took it out.  Zion has practiced for 100 days straight and we took him to McDonalds as a reward.  He is coming along quite well.

June 14th - More rain!  We have had a lot of rain - some nice that soaks in but some downpours and hail as well.  Vanessa, Starlit, Nadine and Colt went up to the International Music Camp (located at the Peace Gardens) for a 2 day fiddling workshop and then Jasper and I went up Friday afternoon so I could accompany Colt in the contest.  We got to see and hear some wonderful fiddling and Starlit and I did some fill in entertaining.  Starlit did not want to be in the contest but Colt wanted the experience.  He is 10 and did really well but did not place in the top 3 in the 12 - 9 year olds.  It was a fun trip although it rained like mad up there as well.  Vanessa was pretty tired after the trip as they stayed until the end on Saturday and got home at 1:30 in the morning.

June 21st - More cool weather and of course wind!  What else would you expect in North Dakota!  John & Darcy had an open house on Sunday for the little art museum / tourist shop they setup on the hill - it went well - I accompanied Amanda for some fiddle entertainment.  Had a good fathers day - it is wonderful to be a father and to have a heavenly Father who is our best example.  Of course my own earthly father has been a lot of help through the years!  Jasper and I got the transom strengthened on the boat so now it should be good to go if we ever get any nice weather!

June 28th - Big celebration in Washburn this past weekend. Lewis & Clark days so we went up for the parade on Saturday and the ladies went to the quilt show.  Vanessa's uncle Byron and aunt Yvonne from Indiana, one of their daughters Linda with her 2 kids Mason and Lindsey and aunt Estelle from Iowa all came up and stopped by our place for supper on Friday evening.  On Sunday morning we went up for the pancake breakfast and the outdoor church service out at Fort Mandan.  The quartet sang 3 special numbers.  Sunday afternoon we went to the lake (for only the second time this year) and my partner Jim came along with the old boat and I helped him learn about backing in and all that fun stuff.  Linda and her kids came over and we had a fun time.
