July 3rd - Hot weather has arrived!  Over 100 one day last week and close several other days.  Grandpa Lorentz & Grandma Lou arrived last week - coincidence?  Starlit was asked to play with a group in one song for a variety show that was held in Mandan 2 nights last week.  She did a great job and the show was really good.  Jazmyn fell and hit her head again.  She stood by the upright mirror in the music room looking at herself and said "head head"  Zion is learning Grandma's Feather Bed (of his own initiative) which is really neat to see.   Looks like nice weather for the 4th - hope all you Canucks had a good and safe 1st!

July 10th - Great weather for the 4th - the parade was long - the capital concert and fireworks were really good.  We had a house full of people and had a good time.  Grandpa and grandma left on Thursday and arrived safely home Sunday.  Grandpa was a big help in getting the Geo fixed.  This week more hot and dry weather as the Cross Ranch festival comes again.  Looks like weather just like last year.  We missed George this year as he did not come with the holiday being not on a Monday or Friday.

July 17th - Hot!  What more can I say and that was the music!  Actually the music and the weather was hot.  For 5 days it was over 100 - 107 on Wednesday.  Wednesday evening Vanessa, Jasper and Starlit went up to the Cross Ranch and I brought the camper up so they could stay for workshops.  Hollis stayed over to watch Jazmyn and Zion on Thursday and Friday.  Then I took them up Friday evening and we stayed until Sunday evening.  Vanessa left Sunday morning for a week of training for Suzuki.  She is up in Saskatoon and will be back next Sunday.  Might be a long week!  There were some really good bands Brothers Keeper from Washington Chris Stuart & Back Country from California (they did the workshops) were really good.  Lots of great local talent as well and a neat guy from Manitoba so all in all it was a great although hot time.  On Sunday evening we went home through Washburn and celebrated grandma Janice's birthday.

July 24th - More hot weather although a bit better.  High of 97 yesterday.  We did get some much needed rain on Thursday but could sure use more.  Vanessa was gone all week for training and we survived!  She arrived home around 2:30 AM on Saturday so has been pretty tired after the big week and all.  On Saturday we went to Prairie Days.  That is an event that a local home school family hosts on their farm.  They have a lot of activities, music, etc so that was fun.  Vanessa and Jazmyn stayed home and visited with grandma Janice.  On Sunday we went to Nelson Lake with the Jacksons.

July 31st - Well so long July!  Hot month and dry.  Yesterday we set records for heat, it was 112 in Bismarck.  We have enjoyed going down to the river quite often and helped 2 stranded boaters on Friday evening.  They were out of gas.  Vanessa did some painting up at the new rooms where the Suzuki School is moving and we got some stuff moved.  Went to the lake again with the Jacksons on Sunday and had a wonderful time.  They are a neat bunch.  This week we head to Minnesota for a family blue grass weekend so will update you on that.
