July 1st - Nothing like being the hottest spot in the nation!  On Saturday we were 111 and Phoenix was 108!  It was a good day to either stay inside or be in the river.  We camped down by the river and sure enjoyed the coolness.  The Fort Mandan was officially 30 years old and they had quite a program to celebrate.  Capped off with fireworks over the Missouri.  A really nice display all in all. Click the picture for more pictures of the camping.

July 8th - Well the 4th has come and gone and so has George!  George came out Wednesday evening and spent the holiday with us.  The morning of the 4th was the big (and I mean big!) parade in Mandan.  Then we had some lunch at Mac & Dons steak house (ha ha) then listened to some good fiddle playing and then went home to rest and have supper with the whole clan.  Then we went back for the festivities at the Capitol.  The Symphony played, the weather was nice, the fireworks were good!  Home again at 12:30 and try to sleep.  On Friday we came Bismarck and George and I did some shopping.  Then we all went to Garrison to see the show Spirit.  Nice to be able to go to a show were the admission is what they charge for a large popcorn in Bismarck and the popcorn is .50 a box.  Saturday George came to Bismarck again with me and watched Rick & I do the radio show.  We tried to get him to be the surprise (or would that be surprised!) guest but he was to shy!  Then Saturday evening we went to the Lake with Dave & Colt and George got to watch me get beat up by the tube!  It was rather windy and Dave was trying to kill me!  OK, not really but it seemed that way at the time.  We got home rather late as we met some friends there and sat around eating smors and visiting.  Sunday at around 1:00 Vanessa left for her week in Brandon (please pray for her to not be overwhelmed and to get the best out of it that she can) then George left and got home safely although he drove through some intense rain.  All in all, we had a great week!

July 15th - Had a great time at the Bluegrass festival at the Cross Ranch this weekend.  My brother Jonathan and his wife Allison came down to visit and spent the weekend there also.  Vanessa got back from Brandon safely although quite overwhelmed with all she had been exposed to.  Brother David went into the hospital on Thursday and is not doing well at all.  Please pray for him and for the family.

July 22nd - Wow again!  I went up to see David and he is sick!  Please pray that the Lord will give either a miracle via medical intervention or otherwise!  I left on Monday at 4:30 PM and slept for about 3 hours in the car and got to mom and dads place at 9:00 Tuesday morning.  Visited there briefly and then drove to Red Deer to see David.  Went to Camp Little Red to visit Martha and crew and stayed there Tuesday and Wednesday evening.  Spent 12 hours Wednesday at the hospital.  Spent Thursday night at Three Hills at mom and dads.  Went to Red Deer each day of course.  Then on Friday night I left Red Deer and drove to Calgary where Jonathan's in-laws had picked up a video for me for Vanessa and then it was gas up in Strathmore at midnight and head for home!  Once again 3 hours sleep in the car and home at 3:30 Saturday.  Like Dorothy says "There's no place like home!"
