April 3rd - Spring is here - the clocks rolled ahead and life rolls on.  Put up a swing in the yard for Jazmyn and boy does she love that!  She heads for her coat and shoes first chance she gets.  I took Zion to the circus on Saturday morning (good time to go with way less people) and he rode the elephant!  We had a great time.  Saturday was pretty nice so broke out the bikes.  The whole family took turns having the flu so it was a rough week in that sense.  On Sunday we went to a bluegrass concert in Jamestown to see Monroe Crossing and had a great time.  The jam before was historic for me as Jasper took his first lead break (on I Saw The Light) and the workshops were superb.  The bass player Mark is an incredible player and teacher and I would like to get to one of his 3 day sessions.  Vanessa and Starlit felt the same about the fiddle player Lisa.  There are certainly a lot of talented people in the world.  Gas is back up to $2.60 so that must mean summer and travel season is coming up - go figure!  Starlit and Zion are looking forward to birthdays.  I tried to convince Starlit that skipping the 14th was a new tradition but she is not buying that one.  Should be a nice week.

April 10th - The nice weather continues.  Starlit turned 14 on Friday!  We had a small party with Ross & Janice, John & Darcy and girls.  After supper Starlit, Jaidra, Amanda, Darcy and Vanessa went to a production of My Fair Lady put on by the University of Mary - they had a wonderful time.  Jazmyn absolutely loves to be outside.  On Saturday we had the Suzuki School spring recital.  The kids did a good job.  On Sunday was the monthly Bismarck jam session.

April 17th - Zion is 7 and had a great birthday!  The exuberance of youth is so wonderful to see.  He and I slept downstairs in the guest room to cap it off.  He is a wonderful boy.  We had a nice Passover celebration with just the family.  Gas is up to $2.75 and the weather is way warmer than usual.  We got the camper out of storage and Jazmyn was totally thrilled with it!  Zion and I "camped" in the driveway on Saturday night.  We had a quiet Easter Sunday as they have the flu up at the farm so we did not go there.  Hollis, Jenny and a friend of Hollis's came over for lunch.

April 24th - Gas inches up - $2.85 and climbing I guess.  Jasper had been invited to join the Central Dakota Home school Science Olympiad team.  They had finished up the year and only State was left but they needed more members so he joined (not really knowing what to expect) and tried to study up on his two events that he would have a partner in.  The meet was Saturday in Fargo and the team won first place in both High School and Middle School!  In one event Jasper and partner Joe Liffrig took first (he did not place in the other event with partner Lexi Hughes) so it was an exciting time.  The weather has been more seasonal but seems extra cold because of how nice it had been.  Don & Val and crew were down for a quick trip to pick up a boat Don's brother bought so it was good to visit them.
