Speech 2004

April 5th - Regionals were held Friday at Washburn and Hollis took first in Poetry and 3rd in story telling.  State is at the end of the month.

March 29th - Speech meet in Harvey on Saturday and Hollis did not do poetry but did do story telling and a dramatic piece.  He took first in story telling!  So now he is state qualified in 2 events!

March 22nd - Speech meet in Washburn where you can't compete in events you are already qualified in.  Hollis did story telling and EPR and place 6th in EPR.

March 15th - On Saturday at the Speech Meet in New Rockford Hollis took first in poetry and 4th in story telling.  They ran into some nasty weather on the way home and spent a few hours in McClusky waiting for the winds to die down.

March 7th - On Thursday they had a speech meet in Glenburn (about 95 miles away - North by Minot) and Hollis took 5th in Poetry and did not make the story telling finals.  Then on Saturday there was a meet in Underwood (only 13 miles away!) and he took 2nd in poetry and also did not get into the story telling finals.

February 28th - Hollis took 3rd in Poetry and 7th in story telling at the Mandan meet.  We are very proud of him as he consistently reaches the finals and places.  That in itself is no small feat.

February 21st - Hollis takes first again!  3 weeks in a row now.  On Friday they went to Bowman (had to be on the bus at 5:00 AM) but had a good trip.. Missed story telling finals by going over in time on the second round.

February 14th - Hollis took first in poetry at the Bismarck High speech meet and was 5th in story telling.  The team did very well also.

February 7th - Washburn hosted a speech meet and the whole team did really well as did Hollis who took a sixth place in story telling and took first in poetry!  Pretty exciting to be at the awards ceremony and see Hollis receive the awards.  As you can see, momma is proud of her son (and so am I)!!
