September 3rd - Anita is doing well!  Received an update via e-mail from the director at Teen Challenge - continue to remember her in your prayers.  We started school this week and Alex is excited to be in school!  We purchased an old piano at an auction last Saturday (actually my father in-law was the one at the auction - the piano was in the house when I got home from taking Anita up) and the kids are all enjoying learning about notes and finger positions.

September 8th - Started out to do a rather small project this past weekend - build some built in bunks for the boys.  Decided to investigate a bit of a leak in the roof above where the bunks would be and that turned into another story!  Could not have done it without my good buddy Rick!  At any rate after many hours of hard work the 3 boys have a place to sleep and the integrity of the roof has been restored!  Vanessa and I are going to a banquet tonight to hear Cal Thomas speak - more tomorrow.

September 9th - Had the privilege of hearing Cal Thomas speak at the annual Challenges and Champions banquet sponsored by the North Dakota Family Alliance.   Very encouraging speech by one of the rare members of the press who actually are on the side of what is right!  He came out strongly against not "public" schools, but "government" schools!  I liked that!  He also laid it on the line about how this country has gotten to the bottom where it is now.  The very liberal and permissive movement of the the 60's and the baby boomers caused a generation to be born that have lost most of the traditional values and morals that this country was founded on.  He also made a good point that the only way it is going to change is from the bottom up!  It starts with you and I and crosses political, ethnic, religious and economic boundaries to involve us all.

September 11th - Awana started Wednesday night and Alex had a ball!  He had to tell everyone he lived with us and that he was home schooled!  I am a Sparks helper with the kindergarten class so I was with him and Starlit for the whole evening.

September 14th - Spent all day Saturday working here at TestNet and then worked on built in shelves for the boys on Sunday - making the most out of the limited space we have available.  Rained hard all day Saturday.  Anita called on Saturday while I was at work so I did not talk to her but Alex was sure glad to hear from her.  I am planning on taking Hollis to Promise Keepers in Milwaukee Wisconsin on the weekend of the 25th.  Will tell you more about that after it is over.

September 16th - Alex got a haircut.  Still some length in the back but he looks really good and is happy with it.

September 17th - Had Awana again last night - Alex enjoyed it immensely.  He passed 2 sections in his book and was very pleased.  They played a game where you ran around the circle and then had to put on way too large of clothes and go in to the middle and pick up the pin - then everyone got their picture taken dressed up so goofy.

September 22nd - Well, I spent the day yesterday in bed!  Fighting some kind of cold or something and it was winning!  Starlit went to her first group violin lesson last night (what they do is have a private lesson once a week, and then get together grouped by age, and go over what they are learning) and really enjoyed it!  She is suddenly getting into this and that is what the teacher said would happen.  It is great to see!  All the kids are interested in music and Alex wants to play the violin!  Vanessa has been showing him how to hold it and some other basics.  The Washburn art show was this weekend and they had an 18 year old fiddler there on Sunday who was very good!  I did not get to see him as I was at work - we had an accountant consultant who could only find time for us on Sunday so there we were.  Talked to Anita on Saturday and she is hanging in there.  Had a rough week but the good news is she is committed to obeying God!  That is all He asks from any of us!  Continue to pray for us all and remember what gramma Blanche says "God is good!"

September 23rd - Alex got his first horse ride last night!  He thinks that living on the ranch is pretty cool.  He was a bit nervous but when he realized that I was going to be leading the horse he felt a lot better about it.

September 28th - OK so sometimes plans change and that is exactly what happened here - Hollis and I did not go to Promise Keepers.  I had been feeling sick all week and Vanessa was not feeling that great and it just came down to making the decision that not going was best.  So instead Hollis and I went to a Ray Boltz concert on Saturday night!  Sat 4 rows from the stage and it was a great concert!  Alex had a couple of rough nights (Thursday and Friday) and was running a fever - no other flu like symptoms so not sure what it was but Saturday he was a lot better and then yesterday (Sunday) he was totally fine.
