September 1st - Another summer is history!  This was different in many ways.  We did not go to the lake or river once!  It sure would have felt nice on some of these scorcher days we have had.  It is in the mid 90's again and dry.  Pray for rain.  Continue to lift up New Life and especially Duvon for wisdom.  Also pray for Jasper and Duvon as they head for Spain this week.  Should be quite a learning trip for Jasper.  They will be gone for just over 2 weeks.  We are looking forward to being grandparents in November.  Vanessa started a music class for the local church here and we had too many kids!  We need to split if up some so that is going to take some work.

September 8th - Gramma Janice is in the hospital (since last Sunday) and not doing well at all.  Vanessa and Vanya flew up to Bismarck on Wednesday evening so please be praying for them all.  Janice has been through so much that her body does not have any reserves to fight with.  The weather here is nice - we actually got some rain (but still need more) Jasper and Duvon got to Spain alright and that is all I have heard.  The 6 hour time difference makes it tough to be in contact and they are so busy over there.

September 15th - God answers prayers!  Janice is home - after  being transferred to Mayo Clinic they found out that her meds were too strong (they cut it from 4 pills a day to 1 1/2) and she is doing much better. Still very weak but home.  So is Vanessa, she flew in Saturday afternoon and then we went to the Symphony in Louisville (Starlit played with a Suzuki group before so we got free tickets!) and we were privileged to see and hear an awesome bassist (he did things with a bass that I would not have believed had I not seen it).  Then Sunday we had the wind storm of the century (I Hope!) and lost many trees (30 down just on our roads) and have been without power since 1:20 Sunday afternoon.  This is now Monday night and I am in town and the local coffee shop/internet bar using their wireless.  It was a widespread storm and much damage was done although we are thankful that no one was hurt.

September 23rd - What a week!  We were without power for over 2 days (some places just south of us were out for 6 days) and you sure forget how nice it is to have power and running water!  Jazmyn turned 4 and had a great day.  Since there was no power we went to Cracker Barrel for her birthday and she loved that.  On Wednesday evening we found out that Jenny had a gall-bladder attack and was in the ER and while that was happening we found out that Janice was on her way to the ER.  They sent her (not by ambulance this time) to Rochester and she is still there having a hard time breathing and getting rid of fluid so please pray about that.  Jenny had her gall-bladder out and got an infection so she had to stay in the hospital several more days and is home now.  My Uncle Lee passed away suddenly last Tuesday, apparently he had congestive heart failure, and we went to the memorial service on Sunday.  We sang at camp on Saturday night and Sunday morning up by Indianapolis (we had that scheduled for quite some time before so it all worked out) and played at the service.  Aunt Yvonne went along with us and grandpa and grandma Lou (as Jazmyn calls them) were down and are coming down here to spend some time with us.  Uncle Les was there and it was good to see him and Lee's family.  Pray for them as they try to adjust to life after this sudden death.
