February dates to remember - 16th - Alex turns 6!

February 4th - Yesterday we had some strange weather!  Rain in the morning so roads were not good.  As a matter of fact I went in the ditch but as God was watching over me no one else was on the road and no damage was done!  I went in about 1/4 mile from some friends who live just north of Wilton and they came and pulled me out.

February 8th - On Friday (the 5th) Hollis and I went skiing at Huff Hills south of Mandan 15 miles.  It was his first and my second time skiing.  We had a great time, it was about 35 and sunny so it was rather slick.  Around 4:00 I decided to get a little brave (or maybe crazy is a better word!) and follow a path some snowboarders were using. It was a blast UNTIL I hit this long icy stretch with a little bump at the bottom.   I did not see the bump and hit it and went totally airborne!  I came down face first on very hard compacted snow and wrecked my face pretty good.  Praise God my glasses survived.  They did do a number on my nose and were pretty bent up (after I found them!) but I was able to straighten them out and make it the rest of the way down the hill.  Got cleaned up and a Band-Aid on my nose and skied for another hour before heading home.  Had a busy weekend.  The quartet was asked to sing at a funeral on Saturday and the pastors ordination service in Washburn on Sunday.  Tonight I am going to Kenmare to speak at Christian Women's Club guest night.  The homeschoolers are skiing every other Friday so we are going to go again on the 19th.  The ski place lets us ski for $10.00 for the whole day including lift and rentals!  This is the same rate they give the public schools for class trips etc.  I am planning on taking Jasper and Starlit so it ought to be interesting!  Will keep you posted.

February 11th - Had the Awana Grand Prix last night and Hollis won 3rd place for speed.   He got a nice little trophy and was happy.  We had made a nice little car and it was fun.  The Christian Women's guest night went well.  I delivered a message on obedience as that was what the Lord had laid on my heart.

February 15th - My face is about completely healed!  It healed so fast and I thank God for that.  Our quartet sang in Minot on Sunday at a bluegrass festival.  Had some technical difficulties (with their sound system) but had a good time anyway!   Vanessa and I went to a movie last night called Blast From The Past.  A well written story that brought out much truth about the decay that has happened to our culture.  I am sure the producers did not intend for it to affirm the concepts of home schooling and the beauty of innocence but it did!  The weather was very nice all last week and snow has been melting so things are a bit sloppy.  The kids and I are planning to go see Anita and Alex this weekend and will keep you posted!

February 16th - Big Al's birthday!  Apparently Alex is now staying with Anita at Teen Challenge.  The home he was staying in had a fire (no one was hurt!) so he had to move and Steve (the director at Teen Challenge) decided that for the next 2 weeks he could stay with Anita.  She is going to graduate from Teen Challenge on March 5th!   We are going to have a baptism service at a local hotel here on Thursday night.   John & Darcy are going to baptize Jaidra and Madison and we are going to baptize all 3 of our kids!  The kids are excited about this step of obedience!   God continues to impress the absolute importance of complete obedience to Him in all that we do!  More later.

February 22nd - Where do I start?  We had a baptism service Thursday evening and then went skiing on Friday (that was a blast!  No one got hurt and both Jasper and Starlit had great first days!) and then took off early Saturday and drove up to Winnipeg to see Anita and Al and then came home on Sunday through Fargo to see my good friend George and celebrate his birthday (he is 53).  I will scan in some pictures of the baptism and the skiing and put them here.

February 28th - Hit a deer on Thursday morning with my Escort - really wrecked the passengers side front but it is still driveable. The North Dakota home school convention was held Friday and Saturday here in Bismarck. Great speaker Michael Farris - founder of the HSLDA and other good workshops. But the big news was that Friday evening Janice got a new kidney! So far she is doing really good although in a lot of pain. Will keep you posted!
