August 2 - Did some horse riding this past weekend.  Also worked updating computers at the office with Y2K patches.  Zion is growing like a weed and is a lot of fun (and work!)  We had some VERY HOT weather last week.  Wednesday and Thursday it was 105.  Cooled off nicely for the weekend.

August 9th - The weather has been cooler.  Had some nasty rain storms on Thursday night.  Zion is 4 months old this week!  Seems hard to believe.  Time passes so quickly.  This week is also our 18th anniversary.  God is so good!  As I look back over the years and see how He has led and provided in our lives.  I know that He will continue to do the same!

August 12th - I am old!  Celebrated my 40th yesterday and had a great day!  The office was all decorated with black balloons and pictures of me.  I decided not to fight it so I came to work dressed in black shoes - pants - shirt - and tie!  Then Vanessa put on a party last night for me and about 50 people came.  We were going to have it at the park in Washburn but the weather was not good so it was moved indoors at the Washburn Baptist church.  Had a great time!  Thanks to everyone who came and also for those who could not but sent cards (e-mail - snail mail - and Internet)  I would not trade  being this age for any other!  It is a wonderful thing to be content with where God has you!

August 30th - Well, a lot has happened!  We were gone on vacation from the 20th - 29th.  Just before I left we lost the web server.  Thanks to my good buddy Jim there was a fairly recent backup so once he had the new server up he was able to get most of my stuff back!  Now for a recap.  Ed & Bev (our dear friends from Bismarck) left for Israel on Thursday the 12th and we already miss them.  We went and spent the Sabbath on the 14th with the midwife who delivered Zion and several other families down by Streeter (about 80 miles east of Bismarck) and had a wonderful time!  A fiddle player and a mandolin player were there.  As for the trip - we left Washburn Friday the 20th at 3:00 PM and went to Regina and stayed over night.  On Saturday we went to my folks place at Lac La Biche Alberta (which is about 2 hours north of Edmonton).  Stayed Sunday and then Monday went down to friends just out of Edmonton.  Tuesday went to West Edmonton Mall (the largest mall in the world) and watched the dolphin show and the 3 older kids and I rode the submarine ride!  That was cool!  Then we went down to my brother Davids place (west of Red Deer Alverta) and on Wednesday went  even further west toward the mountains to a falls called Crescent Falls.  Beautiful country!

Then on to  my sister Marthas place and on Thursday went to Calaway park for the day.  Then on to Three Hills (where we lived for 4 years) on Friday for a wedding.  Left Saturday at 12:00 noon and came to Swift Current and then on home yesterday (Sunday).  Put 2500 miles on the van (that would be 4000 kilometers for those who care!)  Now we just need a couple days of R&R to recover!
