August 7th - Well the summer is cruising right along!  We took 2 days this week and went to the lake.  It was great to have the place to ourselves and the weather was nice.  Then on Saturday Vanessa, Hollis, Jasper and Starlit went on a canoe trip down the river.  Zion and I went to the Cross Ranch State Park where the quartet was singing with 2 other groups.  Vanessa and the others came over for supper and we camped overnight.  Zion really likes riding in the boat and on the tube!

August 14th - What a week!  We celebrated 19 years of marriage and then I turned 41!  We went camping at New Johns Lake Friday afternoon (it was 102 in the shade!) and stayed overnight.  A nasty storm blew in and blew away the new tube (the old one had lasted 3 years so I had just bought a new one - first day out) with the rope and bridle for attaching to the boat (about $200 worth of stuff) and Holly's cooler.  We did quite a bit of praying that night as the camper rocked around in the wind and the Lord answered our prayers.  Then in the morning we thanked the Lord for His hand of protection on us, prayed about the tube and went looking for the it.  We went all over the lake with not success.  Then we thought we would drive to the other side to look along the fence but the van would not go!  (it was only 4 quarts low on tranny fluid) so instead we went out to a little island right across from the campsite.  There in the reeds we found the cooler bottom!  Vanessa, Hollis and Jasper got out to walk along the shore and the rest of us went along the edge in the boat.  Then a bit further along Vanessa found the cooler lid and I found the lid to a glass bowl that had been in the cooler.  So we kept looking along the edge of the island and suddenly I spied the red rope that the tube had been attached to laying right in the edge of the water.  I pulled up and jumped out and grabbed the rope and pulled.  Through the high (3 - 4 feet) grass came the tube!  What rejoicing and praising to God went on!  I was whooping and hollering and Zion was also!  It is so awesome that God answers our prayers even when the circumstances we are in are our own fault.  It was me that had not secured things well and yet He brought the answer to the prayers!  God is good.

August 21st - My parents are coming this evening for the week.  The kids are excited to see them!  Don & Val and kids are also arriving for the week.  We will probably go camping with them.  The ladies are having a baby shower for Holly tonight at Darcy's and I am taking the kids to the lake.  I wonder who will be more tired at the end of the day?  Will let you know!

August 25th - Well I was the more tired I think!  I ended up at the lake with 8 kids and we all had a good time!  Then on Wednesday we all (Don & Val - John & Darcy - Nick & Holly - my parents and Vanessa's parents) went to the lake and camped.  It was a great day weather wise and Thursday was even better!  Don helped teach kids to ski while I drove the boat.  We had 7 in the class and 5 did great and 2 got up but did not actually ski.  Needless to say we all slept in a bit (not as much as I would have liked!) this morning.

August 28th - All the company is gone!  My mom & dad left Saturday morning and Don & Val left Sunday morning.  We had a great although busy time with all!  Hollis came to work with me on Saturday afternoon and we ran network and phone cables in our new office.  He was a big help!
